Idukki: Vijesh, accused of murdering his wife Anumol, in police custody

Idukki: Police on Sunday nabbed Kanchiyar native Vijesh, who was on the run for eight days following the murder of his wife Valsamma alias Anumol here. The accused, 29, was taken into custody from a forest area on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border by a team led by Kumali CI.

He will be brought to Kattappana before recording his arrest for murdering his wife.
The deceased Anumol was a school teacher at Jyothi Primary School at Pallikavala in Kanchiyar. The body was recovered from their bedroom in his residence at Pezhukandam. The body was hidden under a cot.

Vijesh had told her parents she had run away. The parents lodged a man-missing complaint at Kattappana police station. Before absconding, Vijesh took his daughter to his parents’ house.

The decomposing body of Anumol, wrapped in a blanket, was found when her parents visited Vijesh’s house four days after the murder.

Police said that Vijesh had sold Anumol’s mobile phone to a person he met near a beverage outlet for Rs 5,000. The phone will be crucial evidence as Anumol sent messages to her relatives from this phone regarding the torture she suffered from Vijesh, police claimed.
