I understand pain of those denied ticket, says Antony; urges party members to work united

New Delhi: Senior Congress leader AK Antony on Wednesday asked everyone to put an end to controversies and discussions on selection of UDF candidates and urged the party members to work united towards victory in the Assembly election.

“I understand the pain of those who were denied party ticket. But we need to put the issues regarding candidature behind us. The final word has come from the high command. Further discussions should be on how to ensure victory for the UDF candidates,” Antony said while addressing reporters here.

This election will be the end of Pinarayi Vijayan government. UDF will seize power. All those who believe in democracy should cooperate with Congress and UDF. Everyone should work towards victory forgetting the difference of opinions, he added.

Antony also rejected the allegations that high command unnecessarily intervened in the candidate list. The list prepared by Kerala leaders were discussed in detail and approved by high command, he further said.

The former union minister also addressed the remark made by K Sudhakaran that high command was synonymous to KC Venugopal.

“When I spoke with Sudhakaran, he confirmed that 5 more seats than that was won in previous election, will be won in Kannur. He has ensured to work to realise it,” Antony added.

He also alleged that there were many issues regarding candidate selection in LDF, but the front was hiding it.

Antony further asserted that K Muraleedharan will win from Nemom, the lone Assembly seat won by BJP in previous election, with highest majority.
