THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister Veena George visited former chief minister Oommen Chandy undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. The minister arrived at NIMS Hospital in Neyyattinkara Tuesday morning. Veena George, who spoke to the doctors directed to form a medical team of experts for his follow-up treatment.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had yesterday spoken to Chandy’s relatives. The health minister visited the hospital and reviewed the situation following the instructions of the chief minister. Dr Manju Thampi treating him informed that he is suffering from respiratory disease and is being given medicines and that he is better than yesterday.
Chandy’s brother had yesterday alleged that he is being denied treatment. A memorandum was submitted to the chief minister signed by 42 relatives including his brother Alex V Chandy, seeking immediate intervention to ensure the best treatment for Chandy. The relatives approached the chief minister after the family denied permission to visit Oommen Chandy at his residence in Thiruvananthapuram. Apart from the chief minister, the relatives also submitted a memorandum to Health Minister Veena George.
