TEL AVIV: As the war with Hamas entered its tenth day, the Israeli army is all set for a ground invasion of Gaza. Meanwhile, Iran issued a strong warning to Israel to immediately stop its attacks against the Palestinians. Iran’s foreign minister also accused the United States for supporting Israel.
‘If the Zionist aggression does not stop immediately, the hands of all parties in the region are on the trigger,’ said Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said. ‘No one can guarantee that the situation will be under control. Those who want to avoid war and prevent the current crisis from spreading should take steps to prevent the barbaric attacks on the citizens of Gaza,’ said Amirabdollahian.
Meantime, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan has expressed concern over the possibility of an escalation of the war in Israel and direct Iranian intervention. Israel is deploying troops in the eastern region that shares the border with Lebanon. A four-kilometer radius of the area has also been sealed off following border clashes with the Iran-backed Hezbollah group.
2,670 people including 700 children have lost their lives in Gaza in Israel’s 10-day bombardment. Israel has cut off water, food and electricity to Gaza. Lakhs of people are fleeing from here. A worsening water shortage in UN refugee centers in Gaza is adding to the misery of the inmates. More than 2,000 patients are without medicine or water in Gaza’s largest hospital. The doctors and staff are worried that there will be a mass death in the hospital as the fuel in the generators runs out. There were three rocket attacks by Israel in two days against the people who were leaving everything behind.
