Kochi: The state government has decided to conduct a judicial probe against the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding the allegations levelled against its officials. The decision was taken in the cabinet meeting held on Friday.

The probe commission will be headed by Justice VK Mohanan.

Earlier, the Crime Branch had registered an FIR against ED officials.

Five topics including audio message of gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh and the letter from PS Sarith, another accused in the case are under the consideration of the commission.

The probe commission will look into the release of Swapna’s voice message, and the alleged conspiracy behind it, and will submit a report to the government.

The order appointing Mohanan as the chairman of the judicial commission requires the approval from the election commission in the wake of Assembly polls.
