Govindan ridicules Congress over Padmaja’s BJP entry, says CPM leader won’t follow suit

Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary M.V. Govindan on Friday took a dig at Congress in relation to Padmaja Venugopal joining the BJP. Meanwhile, Govindan dismissed the reports of former MLA and CPM leader S Rajendran leaving the party to join BJP.

Addressing a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram, Govindan said that it is now evident why Modi had mentioned that the saffron party in Kerala would secure seats in double digits in the 2024 LS elections. He also criticized KPCC president K Sudhakaran by stating that the latter hasn’t yet ruled out his move to BJP.
“Nearly 200 former Congress MLAs and MPs are now in BJP. Three PCC presidents have now become BJP leaders. Padmaja Venugopal, who recently campaigned for T N Prathapan, had now switched sides and joined the BJP. We are witnessing a sight of Congress turning into BJP,” he said.
