Kayamkulam: Police have found that Arun, the husband of the young mother who faced a murder attempt on Friday evening at a hospital here, shared information regarding the hospitalisation with the suspect, Anusha (30).
Sneha gave birth at the hospital and was discharged on Friday. Concerned about the baby’s condition, doctors advised further treatment, leading Sneha and her mother to stay in the hospital. Around 5 pm, Anusha, a trained pharmacist, disguised herself as a nurse and entered Sneha’s room, claiming she had one more injection to administer. Sneha’s mother told Anusha that her daughter was already discharged and there was no need for another injection, but Anusha persisted. Sneha’s mother grew suspicious, and she reported the matter to the nursing room.
Hospital nurses, upon arriving at the scene, realised that Anusha was not a hospital employee, as her attire did not match the standard uniform. However, Anusha had already attempted to inject an air bubble into Sneha’s vein twice. When confronted, Anusha tried to escape, but the nurses informed security personnel. Subsequently, the police were called, and Anusha was taken into custody.
According to the police, Anusha was in a relationship with Sneha’s husband, Arun. Sneha opposed their intimacy. Investigators believe that Anusha’s motive was to cause Sneha a heart attack through air embolism, aiming for a ‘natural death’.
Upon examination, it was discovered that Arun had informed Anusha about Sneha’s hospitalisation and childbirth through WhatsApp chats. The police have registered a case of attempted murder against Anusha. However, it is not confirmed if Arun is an accomplice in the alleged murder attempt.
Anusha’s husband is an expatriate.
