First budget session of third Modi government begins today, full budget to be presented tomorrow

NEW DELHI: The first budget session of the third Modi government will begin today. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will table the Economic Survey Report in Parliament today. The full budget will be presented tomorrow. The opposition may disturb the House on controversial issues in the following days.

The budget is expected to make announcements that will accelerate economic growth, investment and employment. Six bills including Coffee (Promotion and Development) and Rubber (Promotion and Development) which are crucial for Kerala will be presented. The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir’s budget will also be presented. The conference will last until August 12.

A pre-conference all-party meeting was held yesterday. In the meeting, the ‘India’ front parties raised the issue of NEET exam, the Uttar Pradesh government’s controversial order to display the names of the owners on eateries along the travel routes and giving the post of Lok Sabha deputy speaker to the opposition. The Congress demanded a debate in the Parliament on the NEET controversy.
