India has high expectations from Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh’s visit to China beginning tomorrow. A number of agreements in the areas like trade, economy, culture and people to people contacts, are expected to be signed after talks Dr. Singh will have with Chinese leaders.
Indian Ambassador to China, Dr. S Jaishankar said, New Delhi is pressing Beijing hard to speed up its procedures to allow Indian medicines to China. He said Indian products in pharmaceutical sector are competitive and the drugs are highly affordable.
Mr Jaishankar said growing trade deficit in bilateral trade with China is a matter of concern as it has widened with the increasing volume of trade as a whole.
