Kochi: LDF convener EP Jayarajan said that the party is yet to decide the candidate for the upcoming Thrikkakara by\election. He criticised the media for reports that the party announced the candidate. Media are announcing candidates on their own, he said.
His remarks came in the wake of media reports that CPM will field Ernakulam district committee member KS Arunkumar.
“The district committee meeting is ongoing after the district secretariat meeting. So far, no decision has been taken on the matter. After the district committee decides their recommendation, the state committee has to approve it. The candidate will be announced only after the final approval from the LDF,” he said.
Meanwhile, industry minister P Rajeeve said that the candidate will not be announced on Wednesday. He pointed out that the party is only evaluating the candidates.
However, Left profiles on social media have already started campaigning for Arunkumar. Posters are widely shared and the workers have welcomed the decision to field a youth, who is popular through TV debates on the SilverLine project.
