New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday directed the Kerala government to conclude the probe in the dredger scam case against former DGP Jacob Thomas by June 30.
The apex court also directed the government to produce the probe report in a sealed envelope prior to the next hearing on July 15.
Meanwhile, the state informed the court that it had approached the Centre seeking more information about the Dutch company IHC Beaver, which is named as co-accused in the case. A letter of rogatory was handed over to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs in this regard. The government argued that it hasn’t received a reply from the Centre regarding the same.
The court also permitted the probing official, DySP K Prasanth of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, to notify Union Home Ministry that the investigation into the case should conclude by June 30.
The Vigilance is planning to interrogate officials of IHC Beaver as well. But Kerala has not yet received any notification in this regard from the Union Home Ministry. Hence, Standing Counsel Harshad Hameed filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court seeking an additional three months to complete the ongoing investigation against Jacob Thomas.
Jacob Thomas told the Supreme Court that despite three years, seven months, and 19 days of investigation against him, the Vigilance could not find any evidence.
