Kochi: The Kerala Police team that had gone to Ajmer, Rajasthan to apprehend suspects involved in a theft case was fired upon. The accused fired shots at the police while the latter were trying to arrest them. No one was injured in the incident. The police were able to chase after the accused and nab two of them. However, four of the suspects escaped from their grip.
The incident happened on Tuesday night. Five policemen from the Aluva East police station reached Ajmer to arrest the accused in the theft case.
After a long standoff, two Uttarakhand natives were taken into custody by the police team. Two guns have been seized from them. The police team and those in custody are currently in a police station in Ajmer. The search for the suspects that got away is continuing, police say.
Two weeks ago, two homes were burgled in Aluva. Upon probe, police used cyber records to trace the suspects in Ajmer.
