KOCHI: The Kerala High Court considered a plea filed by ten vice-chancellors in connection with the Governor’s show-cause notice. The high court stopped the act of ousting the VCs. The court said the governor should not take a final decision till the court order comes. The high court’s interim order came on the pleas of the vice chancellors.
Meantime, the Governor informed the court that all VCs had replied to the notice. The Governor also requested a time of three days to file the counter affidavit. The court directed the vice chancellors to decide whether to go for Governor’s hearing. Kannur VC informed the court that he is not interested in appearing in person for the Governor’s hearing. The pleas against the Governor’s notice have been postponed to November 17th.
In the meanwhile, the lawyer of the VCs informed the court that the Governor called him a criminal. The court said both parties are trying to criticize each other. The Governor in his notice directed that if there is any reason not to be removed from the post of VC, it should be informed. However, the VCs argued that the Governor has no authority to cancel their appointments made in accordance with the rules of UGC and the university.
