BENGALURU: With the third phase of the Lok Sabha polls about to take place, the release of obscene videos of Prajwal Revanna, grandson of JDS president HD Deve Gowda and JDS candidate from Hassan, has put the NDA alliance on the defensive. There are also reports that Prajwal has left the country and is in Germany.

JDS argues that the videos have been morphed. Meanwhile, Prajwal filed a complaint stating that the video was fake and morphed. In the complaint, Prajwal says that the video is morphed and circulated to destroy his image and change the minds of the voters.

As the incident became controversial, Prajwal’s paternal uncle and former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy clarified that the party had nothing to do with the incident. Kumaraswamy also said that if Prajwal left the country, a special investigation team will bring him back. Prajwal Revanna is the son of Deve Gowda’s son HD Revanna.

Obscene videos in the name of Prajwal were circulated on social media on the 26th, two days before polling in Karnataka’s Hassan constituency. On 25th, the Chairperson of the Women’s Commission requested Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to order an inquiry in this regard. Siddaramaiah ordered an inquiry the day after the polls. A special investigation team was appointed for the investigation. 33-year-old Prajwal is the sitting MP from Hassan. Prajwal won for the first time in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. Hassan was the constituency of HD Deve Gowda from 2004 to 2019.
