Delhi government will approach the Election Commission to sell onions through mobile vans in the national capital. The permission is mandatory as the model code of conduct is in force in the city. Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit today held a meeting with Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar and Food Minister K V Thomas on onion price issue.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, Ms. Dikshit said eight thousand quintals onions have arrived in the national capital which could help ease prices. She said, the NAFED has also been asked to improve supplies of onion on a no-profit no-loss basis.
Expressing hope that next two to three days prices will come down, the Chief Minister informed that a team has been sent to Maharashtra to negotiate price and get onions.
