Controversial revelation in actress assault case: Police to take action against Sreelekha

KOCHI: The prosecution and the police are gearing up to move a contempt of court petition against the controversial statement of former Jail DGP R Sreelekha that the police had fabricated evidence against actor Dileep in the actress assault case. The prosecution said that it will soon take a decision after discussing it with senior police officers and legal experts. Police will soon collect Sreelekha’s statement. Following this, they will also move a contempt of court petition against Sreelekha. Meanwhile, Reporter channel has released the WhatsApp chat between Sreelekha and Dileep. Human rights activist Prof. Kusumam Joseph has lodged a complaint against Sreelekha with the Thrissur rural police chief.

The other day, Sreelekha had revealed through her YouTube channel that the evidence against Dileep was fabricated. Following this, sources close to the prosecution pointed out that this remark will adversely affect the credibility of the investigation team and the trial proceedings. Sreelekha’s allegation comes at a crucial stage of the case. The contempt to court petition is likely to be filed in the trial court.

The investigation team, which will record Sreelekha’s statement, will also seek evidence regarding her statement. For this, the investigation team will reach her residence in Thiruvananthapuram. Meanwhile, the court will hear the contempt to court petition moved by Dileep against Reporter channel head Nikesh Kumar and director Balachandra Kumar on Tuesday.
