Colombo: Colombo says it will try to speed up the release of 114 Indian fishermen languishing in jails after being caught by Sri Lankan Navy for allegedly fishing in Sri Lankan waters.
Sri Lanka’s External Affairs Ministry was reacting to the demarche issued to Sri Lankan High Commissioner in New Delhi over the issue.
External Affairs Ministry Secretary Karunatilleke Amunugama said that although Sri Lanka appreciates India’s concern in regard to the release of its fishermen, it can act only according to its legal processes.
