Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has directed to form ward-level committees in each panchayat for COVID-19 prevention activities. The committee should visit each house and collect details of the people, said the CM while addressing a meeting of local body representatives and officials here on Saturday.
“Ward-level committees should help the COVID patients during lockdown in Kerala. Service of volunteers can be sought for this purpose,” added the CM.
The Chief Minister also appealed to the local body institutions to find places for establishing more COVID care centres in the wake of the rapid surge in COVID cases.
The ward-level committees should frequently monitor the health condition of the people in quarantine.
They should visit each house and examine the intensity of the virus spread in their area. Panchayat should review the COVID cases and take efforts to control it. They should seek the help of district panchayat and district administration for serious issues.
Arrangements should be made for coordinating vaccination drive which is carried out on state borders. Ward-level committees should provide assistance in cremation of COVID patients and take leadership to ensure COVID protocol.The Chief Minister also alerted the ward-level committees to report COVID protocol violations to police and district administration authority. Priority will be given to the ward-level committee members during vaccination.
The panchayat should prepare a list of people in the medical field. A list of vehicles that can be used as ambulances must be prepared, directed CM.
