Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala’s former opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala slammed Nair Services Society (NSS) general secretary Sukumaran Nair for latter’s recent remarks that UDF lost the 2021 Assembly polls since Chennithala was the chief ministerial face of the front.
“In the election, UDF did not name anyone as chief ministerial candidate. It was agreed to decide on the leader after the elections,” he said.
“I have maintained my secular credentials in my entire political and personal life. There is no way that I would now change my position. I have always been a Congressman. I grew with the party and carried out responsibilities entrusted to me,” he said.
Nair had said that UDF would have fared well if former chief minister Oommen Chandy was the chief ministerial face of the UDF. He also batted for Shashi Tharoor as next CM candidate of the Congress-led opposition front in Kerala.
