The State government has issued an order for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the Abdul Shukoor murder case.
The recommendation is now under the consideration of the sub-committee of the Assembly panel. It will be sent to the Central government within two days.
Earlier, the family of slain IUML activist Abdul Shukoor had submitted memorandums to the Chief Minister and the Home Minister seeking a CBI probe in the murder case.
The CPI-M’s Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan and party legislator TV Rajesh are among the 33 accused named in the charge sheet filed by the police. Abdul Shukoor, an activist of the Muslim League, was murdered allegedly by CPI-M activists at Keezhara in Kannur in February, 2012.
