At least 12 migrants, including four children, drowned after their boat sank off a western Greek island in the Lonian Sea. Greek official said the incident occurred early today, off the coast of Lefkada, an island in the Lonian Sea. They said the immigrants had issued an SOS to the coast guard, who failed to reach the boat on time.

Another 15 migrants managed to swim to an Island. Coast guard boats were searching for survivors. Officials suspect the migrants had arrived in Greece several weeks ago and were heading for Italy.
