KALPETTA: What happened in Mundakkai is the biggest disaster the country has ever seen, actor and Territorial Army Lt Col (Hon) Mohanlal told media after visiting the disaster areas in Wayanad. The actor said the ViswaSanthi Foundation, of which he is also a part, will donate Rs 3 crore for the rehabilitation of the disaster area.
Apart from that, the actor said that he would also contribute to recovering the Vellarmala School. He visited from Chooralmala to Punchiri Mattam. Mohanlal told the media that he had visited this place before.’Many lost their homes and relatives in minutes. It is a big thing that all have united to help them. The Madras 122 Battalion, which includes me, was the first to reach the disaster area. I am a member of this group for the past 16 years. I came to meet and thank the rescuers including them. Bailey Bridge itself is a great wonder,’ added Mohanlal.
He came with Major Ravi in army uniform. He first reached the army camp. He may visit the relief camps. Mohanlal came from Mumbai this morning.
The actor had yesterday donated Rs 25 lakh to the chief minister’s relief fund.
