Bag full of money; bought five-cent land on moon, says Dhanya Mohan sarcastically

KOLLAM: More information surface about assistant manager Dhanya Mohan, who fled after swindling Rs 20 crore from a private financial firm in Thrissur. The investigating team has found that she transferred money to eight accounts. Her bank account of four years will be examined.

Dhanya owns M G Hector, Swift Dzire, XUV 500, an auto and a luxurious bike. Dhanya’s husband Basanth was earlier abroad. It is suspected that money may have been transferred to his NRI accounts. Separate land was purchased for car parking only.

Her father Mohan had earlier rented out vessels. Now he rents out construction materials. She bought a house in Valapad with the cheated money. A car, a bike, a laptop, ATM cards and a computer were seized during the search conducted at her house. It is reported that the woman started cheating from May 2020. When she understood that she would be caught while the inspection was going on in the office, she escaped citing physical difficulties. She later surrendered at the Kollam East Station last evening. Thrissur Valapad police took Dhanya into custody after a medical examination at the district hospital. Dhanya, who came to the station last evening along with her lawyer, introduced herself as the fraudster. The Valapad police arrived within fifteen minutes. After receiving information from Thrissur, the Kollam City Police had been searching the houses of Dhanya’s relatives for two days.Meanwhile, when the media asked her if she had committed the crime, she lifted a bag and said this is full of money and you (media) come and take it. She jokingly said that she has bought five cents of land on moon.

Fled Wednesday evening
Dhanya fled from her house at Mulamkadakam in Kollam on Wednesday evening. The police arrived around 7:30 pm, but the gate was locked from outside. Dhanya usually comes home on Saturday night. Her father Mohan, mother Ponnamma, her husband, sister and brother-in-law live in this house. The family earlier lived in the house on the national highway. A two-storied house with an area of 4000 square feet was constructed in the compound of the old house two years ago.

Addicted to online rummy

It is heard that she used the cheated money for online rummy games and luxurious life. It is also heard that she lost more than Rs 2 crore in rummy. Following a complaint of the firm, a seven-member team headed by Valapad circle inspector M K Ramesh was appointed for an investigation.
