Arvind Kejriwal proves majority, wins trust vote in Delhi assembly

NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal secured majority in the trust vote in the assembly on Thursday. The trust vote was held amid allegations that the BJP was shifting MLAs from Delhi to their side. In the poll, 58 MLAs voted in favour of the Aam Aadmi Party. AAP has 62 MLAs in the 70-member Delhi Assembly. Two of them are outside the country, one is in jail and the other is the speaker.

After passing the trust motion, Kejriwal said that BJP’s Operation Lotus had failed in its attempt to topple the Aam Aadmi Party government. Last week, Kejriwal had alleged that the BJP targeted 40 AAP MLAs and promised them all Rs 20 crore each. But BJP’s response was that Kejriwal is playing political drama to divert people’s attention from the liquor scam.
