Aam Admi Party MLA M S Dhir has been elected as Speaker of Delhi Assembly. Pro tem Speaker Mateen Ahmad announced this in the House. Mr.Dhir defeated his BJP rival Jagdish Mukhi.

M S Dhir got 37 votes while the BJP candidate got 32.Earlier the Congress had issued a whip to its MLAs to support the AAP Speaker candidate M S Dhir in Delhi Assembly. The session of the Delhi Assembly which began from 1st of this month will conclude on 7th.
