Islamabad: Pakistan again violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch sector, in Jammu and Kashmir late yesterday by targeting Indian forward posts in Balnoi sector.
Defence Spokesperson Col. R.K. Palta told AIR News that Pak troops started unprovoked firing in Balnoi Battalion area of Poonch district at around 7.20 p.m last night using small arms and automatic weapons.
Indian troops guarding the borderline gave an effective response to the firing.The firing continued throughout the night and finally stopped at 4.30 a.m this morning. However, no loss of life or injury was reported from the Indian side.
Pak troops had targeted Indian forward posts in Banwat and Mendhar area of the border district Poonch during the day yesterday prompting Indian troops to retaliate, leading to intermittent exchange of fire between the two sides till late evening.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has asked Pakistan to stop ceasefire violations, saying that people on both sides of the border were bearing the brunt of it and made it clear that such incidents will not improve bilateral ties.
