New Delhi:  The Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to stay the Bombay High Court order deeming Board of Control for Cricket in India’s internal Indian Premier League probe as “illegal and unconstitutional.” The next hearing on the case would take place on August 29.The apex court deliberated on a Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by BCCI on Monday and also issued notices to the Cricket Association of Bihar.

The BCCI had previously challenged the High Court’s ruling saying the two-member panel had been formed in accordance to the Board’s constitution.The BCCI also said the High court shouldn’t have entertained the PIL because no fundamental rights of the petitioner had been violated. Besides the PIL petitioner Aditya Verma of Cricket Association of Bihar is not a member of BCCI.

The BCCI panel, comprising two retired judges, said no evidence of spot-fixing was found against Rajasthan Royals’ co-owner Raj Kundra and Gurunath Meiyappan – son-in-law of Srinivasan. Verma’s PIL challenged the validity of the panel and its report.
