Visuals of the attack unleashed by SDPI activists that broke out during a victory procession held after the announcement of byelection results of Mangalam Gramapanchayat, has been telecast by media channels.

Visuals show two CPM workers, including CPM Purantur local committee member and former panchayat member A K Abdul Majeed (55) and Arhad (35) being attacked. Tirur police said SDPI activists were behind the attack.
Majeed received stab injuries on his leg and body. Arhad was also injuried when he tried to stop Majeed from being attacked. The incident happened on Wednesday morning on the Mangalam-Puranthur road when attackers arrived in a bike, blocked the car and attacked CPM activists.
The counting of votes for the bypolls was held in 3 wards at the Mangalam panchayat office on Wednesday.
