BMW, the German luxury car manufacturer will showcase an array of exciting cars at 2014 Auto Expo this February. The show stealer will be the i8 hybrid sports car, the M6 Gran Coupe, new X5 and 3 Series Gran Turismo will debut in India. BMW 3 Series GT was launched in the previous year at the Geneva Motor Show. The car has been spotted on several occasions testing in India. The same petrol and diesel engine currently in the existing 3 Series will be planted in the GT variant. Similar to the 3 Series sedan, the GT will also roll out from BMW’s plant in Chennai.This will be their 7th car to be produced locally.
The new i8 hybrid will get a 1.5 litre 3 cylinder petrol engine, delivering peak power of 357 bhp and torque of 570 Nm. The car will get a well defined fascia, extended hood and daytime running lights inbuilt. Interiors will be a mixture of sport and comfort, leather upholstery and carbon fibre elements on the door panel and digital instrument panel. An iDrive Controller, eDriver Button and Parktronics with camera, pedestrian recognition and automatic braking, will be featured in the car.
A new BMW M6 Gran Coupe will follow the success of the 6 Series Gran Coupe which was launched in November 2012. The M6 Gran Coupe will boast a twin-turboed V8 4.4 litre engine generating 560 hp and a phenomenal 680 Nm of torque. The same powertrain is used in the current M5.
The new X5 that was launched in May last year. This will be the 3rd generation and will feature new engine variants. The global unveil witnessed BMW offered the X5 in a choice of 3.0L six cylinder in-line diesel. However, the xDrive 30d is expected to drive on Indian roads.
