World number six Roger Federer proved that he is back to his best as he defeated Britain’s Andy Murray 6-3, 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 to advance to the Australian Open semifinals.
17-time Grand Slam winner set up a last four clash with Rafael Nadal, who fought off a big challenge from rising Bulgarian star Grigor Dimitrov in the quarterfinals.
The pair have faced first time since Murray’s five-set semifinal win at last year’s Australian Open – the only time the Scot has beaten Federer in four Grand Slam encounters.
Federer won the latest of his record 17 Grand Slam tournaments at Wimbledon 2012 and has not reached a major final since.
