Coal India to take up 126 new projects in 12 FYP

Coal India Limited, CIL, will take up 126 new projects during 12th Plan to increase coal production. The projects will have an estimated capacity of over 438 million tonnes. Out of these, 60 projects are expected to contribute about 88 million tonnes in 2016-17.


An official release today said, CIL has initiated Mining Development Operator mode in its seven projects to enhance production capacities. It has also decided to appoint a consultant of International standing for modernisation of its mines.

The public sector company has planned investment of 7 thousand 45 crore rupees in three major railway infrastructure facilities to deal with slow evacuation of coal from its major coal fields including North Karanpura and Mand Raigarh.
