Kannur: CPM Kannur district leadership has denounced PP Divya in connection with the incident in which ADM Naveen Babu was found hanging inside his quarters at Pallikkunnu, Kannur. Divya should have avoided making such remarks during the farewell meeting of ADM, said the district secretariat in a statement issued on Tuesday. District secretariat has also demanded a detailed investigation in connection with the allegation raised by Divya.

While condoling the death of ADM Naveen Babu, CPM district secretariat said that they share the sorrow of the family of ADM. “This death was too unexpected and most unfortunate. What district panchayat president had said during the meeting was only a criticism with good intention. When people come across with wrong tendencies from the part of officials, people would express their sentiments to the people’s representatives. Though what Divya had expressed during the meeting was a reaction regarding one such complaint from the part of a person, it should have been avoided in a farewell meeting. The government should conduct a comprehensive investigation regarding the allegations raised in the meeting”, the statement said.

It was on Tuesday morning that, Kannur Additional District Magistrate Naveen Babu was found hanging inside his quarters at Pallikkunnu, near Kannur. On Monday, during the farewell meeting of Naveen Babu, district panchayat president PP Divya had raised some bribery allegations against him. In her speech, Divya had said that, ADM had made some shady deals while issuing NOC for a petrol pump. She said that, she have the documents supporting her allegations and would release it when the time comes.
