THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM has dismissed MLA PV Anvar’s allegations against the party’s political secretary, P Sasi, opting not to pursue an investigation for the time being. This decision was made during the party’s state secretariat meeting, following a similar stance taken earlier by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who defended Sasi and asserted there was no need for an inquiry, citing Sasi’s exemplary work.
CPM State Secretary MV Govindan, speaking at a press conference, confirmed that the issue was discussed at the secretariat meeting. He emphasized that Anvar’s allegations do not appear to be directly related to Sasi, at least based on the initial assessment. Govindan reiterated the party’s support for Sasi, while cautioning Anvar against making statements that could be weaponized by right-wing forces, noting that the media has been sensationalizing the issue.
“The government is already investigating the matters raised by Anwar and the information submitted to the party is also under review,” Govindan stated. “Anvar, as a member of the LDF parliamentary party, should refrain from making such statements. The front and parliamentary party meetings will further explain the situation to him.”
An inquiry is ongoing into the reported meeting between ADGP MR Ajith Kumar and RSS leaders. Govindan assured that action will be taken if the meeting is found to have breached official protocol.
He also stressed that Anvar should reflect on his actions and avoid making such claims in the future. “Any serious issue will be dealt with seriously. However, in this case, the allegations against P Sasi lack evidence. The secretariat has reviewed the situation and it was determined that Anvar’s statements should have been avoided.
