LONDON: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who won the UK election, visited Buckingham Palace and met King Charles. He came to the palace with his wife and asked to form a new government. He was formally invited by King Charles to form a government and become Prime Minister. Keir Starmer was then appointed as the new Prime Minister of Britain by King Charles. The Labor Party led by Keir Starmer has won a landslide victory against the Conservative Party, which has been in power for 14 years in Britain.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who resigned after a heavy defeat, arrived at Buckingham Palace and handed over his resignation letter to King Charles III. Sunak then resigned as leader of the Conservative Party.

“The British people have delivered a sobering verdict tonight, there is much to learn… and I take responsibility for the loss.

“To the many good, hard-working Conservative candidates who lost tonight, despite their tireless efforts, their local records and delivery, and their dedication to their communities. I am sorry.” Mr Sunak said after the election defeat.

The Labor Party came to power with 412 seats. The Conservative Party got only 121 seats. Keir Starmer’s main challenge is to revive the British economy, which is facing a severe financial crisis.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Labor Party leader Keir Starmer who won the British general election. In a note shared on X, the Prime Minister said “I look forward to our positive and constructive collaboration to further strengthen the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in all areas, fostering mutual growth and prosperity.’

Modi also shared a message on X thanking Conservative Party leader and ex-Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who lost the election. Modi thanked Sunak for leading Britain well and for his active contribution to deepen the ties between India and the UK and gave best wishes for his future and family.
