Palakkad: Union Minister Suresh Gopi recently said at a gathering of BJP workers here, stating, ‘If you give me Palakkad, we will take Kerala.’ His remarks, made during a welcome meet organised by BJP workers in Palakkad, stressed the importance of winning upcoming byelections in Palakkad, Chelakkara assembly constituencies, and the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency.
Suresh Gopi was responding to Shobha Surendran’s statement on the same platform, where the latter said whoever stands as the BJP candidate will win the Palakkad by-election. Suresh Gopi asserted that the BJP should field only strong candidates capable of winning in all three by-elections. The event was attended by key BJP leaders from across the State, including K Surendran, V Muraleedharan, and Kummanam Rajasekaran.
Expressing gratitude to the people of Thrissur, Suresh Gopi said, “Words cannot express my love and gratitude to the people of Thrissur. I love Thrissur. I have said ‘I want Thrissur’. Only after that did I say ‘I am taking Thrissur’. But I’ll have to make a different statement about Palakkad. I would like to say, You give me Palakkad, we will take Kerala. Our success is directly proportional to the number of people who come forward to test us.”
Suresh Gopi had previously, on numerous occasions, expressed gratitude to the people of Thrissur for bringing the BJP to Kerala through the district. He has also mentioned that he has huge plans for Kerala including the possibility of oil exploration off the Kollam coast, planning an Ayurvedic tourism initiative in collaboration with the Ministry of Ayush, promoting Kerala culture especially through events like Thrissur Pooram, conservation of Mangrove forests, and the possibility of AIIMS.
