NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday denied interim relief to Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal in a plea challenging his arrest. Kejriwal filed a petition in the Delhi High Court seeking his immediate release from ED custody. But the court adjourned the case to April 3 and allowed ED till April 2 to reply to Kejriwal’s petition. Court has sent notice to ED on Kejriwal’s petition.
The custody period of Kejriwal, who is in ED custody in the Delhi liquor policy scam case, will end tomorrow. He was kept in lockup at ED Delhi office. The ED may ask for his custodial period to be produced tomorrow at Delhi Rose Avenue Court at 2 pm. Kejriwal was arrested on March 21.
Kejriwal said in the petition that his arrest was a violation of human rights. He also argued that the ED failed to prove that he had committed the crime. Appearing for the ED, Additional Solicitor General SV Raju said that they were not given a copy of Kejriwal’s petition against his arrest.
