Maoists open fire at forest watchers in Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary

Kannur: In a shocking incident, Maoists reportedly opened fire at forest watchers of Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary here on Monday.

The incident happened at around 11 a.m. The Maoists opened fire on the watchers as they passed through the forest. As per the reports, one of the three watchers suffered injuries after tripping and falling down while fleeing from Maoists.

Maoists had previously visited houses near the wildlife sanctuary, purchased food, and distributed pamphlets.

Meanwhile, Thunderbolts of Kerala Police have arrived at the spot and launched a search operation. The forest department officials said that Maoists opened fire without any provocations.
