Another fire at Brahmapuram plant in Kochi; fire force in action

Kochi: Weeks after the devastating fire at Brahmapuram waste dumping yard here, another fire has been reported on Sunday (March 26).

A fresh fire was spotted in sector one of the waste treatment plant. A number of fire force units camping at the plant site have taken action to douse the fire.

Garbage piles at the Brahmapuram plant caught fire on March 2. The fire was doused after 12 days during which smoke from burning plastic caused severe air pollution in Kochi. It had also triggered political controversy in the state which is yet to be doused.
