KOCHI: The government apologized unconditionally for not complying with the high court’s order to confiscate property in the case of destruction of public property during the Popular Front hartal. Additional chief secretary Dr V Venu appeared in court as per the directive of the high court. The high court expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in the process of confiscating the assets of the Popular Front leaders.The additional chief secretary assured in writing that the confiscation process would be completed by January 15. The high court accepted the affidavit filed by the government. The high court assessed that the incident of destruction of public property was serious.Meantime, Abdul Sathar, former state secretary of the Popular Front, accused in the case, will be produced in the court through video conferencing from now on. More than 140 cases have been registered against him in various stations.
