Udhayanidhi Stalin sworn-in as minister in father M K Stalin’s cabinet

CHENNAI: Udhayanidhi Stalin, DMK’s youth wing secretary, MLA and son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, was on Wednesday, sworn in as the minister. The oath-taking function was held at 9.30 am at the Durbar Hall of Chennai Raj Bhavan. Udhayanidhi assumed the charge of minister in the presence of Chief Minister Stalin and Governor R N Ravi.

Ahead of the function, Udhayanidhi Stalin thanked the chief minister for giving him the opportunity to be a part of the government. He shared a note via Twitter.

In the cabinet reshuffle, it was decided to bring Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni assembly member Udhayanidhi to the cabinet. Udhayanidhi is also a famous actor and a producer. The party has decided to given him the charge of youth welfare and sports to Udayanidhi.

Stalin reshuffled his cabinet after one and a half years. Stalin cabinet took office on May 7 in 2021. Presently Tamil Nadu has a 34-member cabinet including Stalin.

Udhayanidhi is popularly known as ‘Chinnavar’ in the party circles. Udhayanidhi was elected this time with a huge majority of 69,355 votes from the constituency where his grandfather and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Karunanidhi contested in the past. Senior leaders of the party also demanded to induct him into the cabinet. It is reported that none of the present ministers will be changed in the cabinet reshuffle.
