Govt completely freezes Silver Line proceedings, officials entrusted to acquire land called back

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has completely frozen the Silver Line project. All the officials entrusted to acquire land were called back. It is clear from the order issued by the revenue department that the government is withdrawing from all activities related to the Silver Line project.

205 officials entrusted for land acquisition in eleven districts were called back. Their tenure was extended two months ago. The government also decided not to conduct the social impact study for the time being. The order also said that after getting the final approval of the central railway board, other steps will be taken. The government had earlier said that they will not back out from the project under any circumstances.
