Nine Indians among 10 killed in huge Maldives fire

MALE: Ten people have reportedly died in a fire in a building where foreign workers live in Male, the capital of the Maldives. Maldivian authorities said ten bodies were found on the top floor of the building.

Security officials said nine Indians and one Bangladeshi are among the dead. It is reported that the fire started from the workshop on the ground floor of the building. It took more than four hours to extinguish the fire. The Indian Embassy in Maldives have confirmed that there were Indians among the dead.Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the President of Maldives, extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and said that the investigation into the incident is in progress. Most of the foreign workers coming to Maldives are from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
