HC refuses to stay appointment of temporary VC in KTU, did not accept govt’s demand for interim order

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court refused to stay the appointment of temporary VC in Kerala Technical University (KTU). The high court did not accept government’s demand for an interim order. The case will be considered again on Friday. The court directed to add UGC as a party to the plea.

The court sent notice to the opposite parties including the governor. The government argued in court that they have the right to recommend the name of the VC. The government approached the high court alleging that the governor, who is also the chancellor, illegally appointed senior joint director of the education department, Ciza Thomas as the vice chancellor.

Meantime, the SFI stopped KTU VC at the university gate. They stopped the vehicle and waved black flags. The police forcibly removed the protesters.
