Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Government has begun moves to confiscate properties of the banned outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) in the state, including PFI general secretary Abdul Sathar. The decision to seize property was taken to compensate for the damages suffered during the hartal observed by PFI in Kerala.
Following the widespread attacks during the PFI hartal, Kerala High Court took suo-moto case and asked the state government to collect compensation from PFI leaders who announced the hartal.Kerala Police Chief has requested details from the IG of the Registration Department regarding the properties owned by Popular Front of India and Abdul Sathar.
Meanwhile, NIA collected evidence in the presence of former State Secretary CA Rauf. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday carried out searches at three locations in Kerala in the PFI conspiracy case.The anti-terror agency conducted searches in the Malappuram district of Kerala in the case pertaining to the criminal conspiracy hatched by the office bearers, members, and cadres of PFI having registered office in New Delhi and unit offices, area offices, zonal offices or state offices all over India, along with others, who are involved in raising or collecting funds from within India and abroad through banking channels, hawala, terrorist acts in various parts of India including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.
Incriminating materials, including digital devices and documents, were seized during these searches, the NIA said.
