THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A plea has been filed in the Thiruvananthapuram Judicial First Class Magistrate Court against LDF convener E P Jayarajan and CPM central committee member P K Sreemathy. The plea sought to file a case against the leaders for their remarks on the AKG Centre attack. The petition has been filed by public activist Pachira Navas. The petition seeks to charge them with conspiracy and incitement to violence. The court will hear the plea on Monday.

Meantime, even after a month into the attack on AKG Centre, the CPM headquarters, the police are unable catch the culprits. The inability to trace evidence in the controversial case is turning out to be an embarrassment for the Kerala police and the government. The attack took place at around 11:30 pm on June 30, when an unidentified person, who arrived in a scooter, hurled an explosive at the AKG Centre. The incident took place while policemen were on guard in the area. Although the CCTV footage of the incident was collected immediately, the accused has not been found yet. So far, the police have examined around 50 CCTV visuals and thousands of phone documents. Meantime, the crime branch is gearing up to investigate by recreating the incident. The investigation is being led by crime branch SP S Madhusoodanan. Crime branch DySP Jaleel Thottathil is the investigation officer.

According to the preliminary conclusion of forensic experts, cracker-like objects with no high explosive potential were used for the attack. No metal fragments or broken bottles were recovered from the spot. So far, the forensic experts have obtained some traces of gunpowder only. The probe was transferred to the crime branch as the police failed to obtain any hints about the accused.
