Monkey pox concern in state again; Man from Dubai hospitalised with symptoms

KANNUR: The threat of monkey pox has raised concern in the state again. A 40-year-old youth who came from Dubai to Kannur has been admitted to Pariyaram Government Medical College with symptoms. He reached Kannur from Dubai via Mangaluru airport. His samples have been sent to Pune Institute of Virology for expert tests. The results will be available soon. He is in a special observation room in the hospital.

Kerala reported the first case of monkey pox in the country. The disease was confirmed on the 35-year-old youth who came from the Gulf. He is a native of Kollam and is undergoing treatment at Thiruvananthapuram medical college. He was first treated at a private hospital in Kollam after having fever and other symptoms. He is now undergoing treatment at a special isolation room. He conducted the test as his roommate in UAE was confirmed of monkey-pox.
