Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala High Court criticised KSRTC for dumping damaged buses in depots and yards in the state. HC asked why KSRTC is not selling these unused buses as scrap if it is not fit enough for services.According to KSRTC, the buses are often discarded due to their poor mileage. This left several buses lying idle in yards and depots. The court asked the KSRTC to examine the scope of selling it.
Meantime, the division bench of the HC quashed an interim order issued by the single bench directing oil companies to sell diesel to KSRTC for retail price.
The appeal filed by Indian Oil Corporation and BPCL claims that KSRTC’s petition will not legally stand.
The oil companies argued that unlike customers in the retail market, the KSRTC buys diesel in bulk. Therefore, it is not possible to charge them as per the retail rate.
Earlier, the fuel companies had decided to charge higher rates to KSRTC as a bulk purchaser. KSRTC had approached the High Court after the companies supplied diesel at an extra rate of Rs 20 per litre.
