NEW DELHI: Veteran Congress leader AK Antony on Wednesday announced that he was withdrawing from national politics. Antony was talking to the media before returning to Kerala after ending his permanent stay in Delhi.
“I have been on the working committee since 1984. I’ve worked with all leaders including Indira Gandhi. Age slows down any human being. I’m now 81 years old. I got infected with Covid twice. Doctors have advised me to rest for a minimum of two-three months,” Antony said.
“No other Congress leaders got as many chances as I did. From now on, I’ll be operating in Thiruvananthapuram. Times have changed. Will need to change the working style after discussing it with colleagues. I won’t do anything that will harm the party. I’ll remain in Indira Bhavan as long as the party allows me,” he added.
