Thaha Fazal released from jail, tells media that SC order was setback for government

THRISSUR: Thaha Fazal who was jailed in connection with the Pantheerankavu UAPA case has been released. Thaha told the media after his release from jail that the Supreme Court order was a setback for the government and he did not receive any help from the CPM.

Thaha Fazal was granted bail by the Supreme Court yesterday. He approached the Supreme Court after the High Court denied him bail. The court upheld the bail granted to another accused, Alan Shuaib. The verdict was passed by a bench comprising Justices Ajay Rastogi and AS Oka. Senior advocate Jayant Muthraj appeared in court for Thaha. Additional Solicitor General SV Raju appeared for the NIA. The NIA argued that youngsters belonging to a banned organization should not be granted bail.
