Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the government has decided to relax lockdown restrictions in the state from June 16. Public transport will be allowed on moderate level from June 17 onwards. Also strict restrictions will be enforced in the state on Saturday and Sunday, the chief minister added.

Strict restrictions will be imposed after deciding containment zones in local bodies where high test positivity rate (TPR) is recorded. If the TPR of 7 days is 8 percent, then the place will be considered as area with low transmission rate.

Places with TPR between 8 and 20 will be considered as areas with moderate transmission rate and those with TPR higher than 20 as areas with high transmission rate. Stringent curbs will be enforced in places with TPR above 30.

Industrial and agricultural activities will be allowed in all local bodies. Transportation will be arranged for labourers in these sectors. Shops selling essentials will be allowed to function from 7 am to 7 pm every day. Akshaya centres will be open on Mondays and Fridays.

Central and state government institutions, public sector companies, government companies and self-governing bodies can function on all days with 25 percent staff on rotation basis from June 17.
Upto 50 percent staff is allowed in the Secretariat on rotation basis. Banks can continue functioning in the current pattern.

All central and state level exams will be allowed. In-dining is not allowed in restaurants. But home delivery and take away will be encouraged. Tourism, entertainment events, indoor events with huge participation and malls are not allowed.

Only 20 people are allowed to attend wedding and funerals. Other crowding and public events will not be allowed. Though lockdown curbs are eased, people should remain vigilant to resist the Delta virus and the third wave, the chief minister added.
